Christmas in Paris on the Champs-Elysées

13 October 2017

Christmas Magic with a Four-Star Festive Stay with Amarante Champs-Elysées

This winter, The City of Light becomes The City of Fairylights as Christmas arrives in the capital and the world’s most famous landmark takes it up a notch for the season! There's also a host of classical concerts and Yuletide fun... just minutes from a very festive Amarante Champs-Elysées.

Christmas Concerts at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées

Throughout December

Located a leisurely 10 minute stroll from Amarante Champs-Elysées, upon arrival at the famous Théâtre des Champs-Elysées you will instantly be struck by its beautiful, bold, concrete and marble façade. But once inside, prepare to be submersed in magnificent interiors and comfortable surroundings - which are only heightened during a classical music performance.

Not to be missed over the festive season is Radio Classique, as Oliver Bellamy leads proceedings for the ever popular Grand Concert de Noël on the 19th and 20th December - where the splendour of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Republican Guard, will combine harmoniously with the Choir of the French Army and Maîtrise des Hauts-de-Seine!

On the enchanting evenings, expect to hear the likes of Rimsky-Korsakov, Brahms, Handel, and of course Tchaikovsky, as the masters are reimagined to deliver classic sounds of Christmas. The majestic melodies of which are only enhanced by the venue, with Ravel once writing to Stravinsky that “the acoustics of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées are so perfect that you can even hear the refinement of Berlioz’s harmonies”.

But even if you can’t make it to these magical evenings of music, fret not. Radio Classique’s Christmas Concert is but one performance taking place at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées over the festive season! See here for a full classical concert and theatre schedule.

Explore the Eiffel Tower at Christmas

Reachable in just 7 minutes from Amarante Champs-Elysées, no Paris itinerary is complete without a visit to the world’s most iconic landmark - and nowhere more so than at Christmas, when the Eiffel Tower packs plenty of seasonal surprises!

Standing 300m tall, an illuminated Eiffel Tower cuts a domineering figure at night, especially during Noël; but a journey to its summit unveils the best views in Paris, as a picturesque patchwork twinkles perfectly below. Braver visitors can also walk along the glass floor on the first level, stationed 57 metres above Paris; but for those who prefer their views without potential bouts of vertigo, feel free to raise a glass in the Champagne Bar!

Back on the ground, the foot of the immense iron edifice also houses plenty of festive offerings, in the adjacent Christmas Markets of Trocadéro and Quai Branly. In particular, festive fun awaits at Trocadéro - with giant igloos, lifesize snowmen, and an outdoor ice rink on hand to amuse all ages.

Across the bridge (Pont de l'Alma) at Quai Branly, is where you’ll find delicious gourmet delights like roasted chestnuts, raclette, slowcooked hams, and tartiflette - a warming winter dish made of potato, lardons, onion and cheese.
